Dont know whether its still there but there was a place called the Big Sheep where they do sheep racing and you can place bets etc. Always sounded like an entertaining day out in a kitch sort of way. Its not in Woolacombe but its not far. I think you can also do day trips to Lundy. Rockham bay near Morthoe just down the road from Woolacombe is lovely a great picnic spot but does have the steepest steps in the world so not good if you dont travel light. but very safe swimming.
