Cancelled New Year Ski Holiday Boxing Day

What do you think of this? We wanted to book a ski holiday this year as before covid we went regularly, we really love the family time together. Such a lot of awful things have happen to us since the pandemic and we really needed a break. We had been trying to book a holiday for a few weeks but nothing was available so we gave our requirements to a few well respected ABTA Snow Companies and waited to see if anything came along. A couple of things came available but were not really what we wanted and then on 23rd December a Beautiful Catered Chalet came up, very expensive (New Year) but perfect for us....Yes, lets push the boat out. We will take it. The ABTA Travel agency Book the Chalet and take our payment. We ask to book flights through them but they say it would be easier if we book direct. We book flights and the travel agency arrange our transfers. Boxing Day we get meet and greet confirmation for Transfer and Chalet. At Lunchtime we get a phone to say " So sorry the Chalet has been Double Booked - You are out " we just can't believe it. I am so shocked and upset I didn't sleep a wink all night, to make matters worse we had invited friends to share our chalet as we had paid for a much bigger one than we needed, luckily they had only just booked flight so could get a partial refund. We have been looking all day for alternative accommodation but nothing is available. I am sat here now supposed to be leaving the house at 4am tomorrow morning for a luxury ski holiday. We have spent £3000 on Flights and Car Parks and Dog Sitter.

How could they do this? Why accept and confirm the booking. What a horrible thing to do to people so close to the date.
Just needed to vent. Thank you for listening.

What resort were you looking at?

We were booked for Three Valleys. I think we are resigned to New Year at home.

So sorry you've had such a disappointing experience, did you manage to find anything else? It's really unfair of them.

No, we are home for New Year. I think at the time I just needed to verbalise what had happened but I am over it now, hope we can get a refund for the flights from Insurance.
