Zanzibar in April

Due to visiting friends in Tanzania, we're looking at spending time in Zanzibar mid-April.
I know it's rainy season, but was just wondering if anyone has any experience of being there in April.
We've travelled extensively/lived in the tropics in SE Asia, so are familiar with tropical rainy seasons.
As we haven't been to Zanzibar, it would be great to hear personal experiences of the island at that time of year.

I was meant to be going to Zanzibar a few years ago in April but cancelled when I saw the forecast. Apparently i did 💯 the right thing as friends there sent me videos of torrential rain every single day. In the end i went in july and the weather was perfect

This is what I'm worried about.
Thinking about cancelling that part of the trip and cutting out losses.
