Antigua vs Ipanema

Which do you think would be a nicer holiday?

Week on a Caribbean Island like Antigua or a week on the Ipanema beach in Rio

Antigua.

I used to live in Brazil. Rio isn't really all that nice.

I've been to both. If you want a beach holiday definitely Antigua.
Ipanema is very much a city beach - Road close by, busy city vibe. And the waves are strong, not a chilled Caribbean type swim.
If you're looking for a city holiday then yes, Rio is worth exploring...

Though biased - Caribbean has my vote. Less urban, more to explore & safer. Do see what you look for in an island before choosing, as their offer varies.
