A thread for hotels/cottages with super king beds

Please, please can people recommend places with super king size beds? I'm so fed up with scouring hotel sites, and often having to email then to find out what the bed sizes are. Anywhere, but perhaps focussing on UK and the rest of Europe. I wish it was possible to filter all the holiday sites by bed sizes!

I'll start, with:
Opera Garden Hotel and Apartments, Budapest
Sandburn Hall Hotel, Yorkshire

Mayfair Hotel, Copenhagen. All of the deluxe rooms and suites have super king beds. We are here now. Very comfy!

If you travel outside Europe, king size beds are often the same size. Queen is equivalent to our king.

The Lodge Hotel and Titchwell Manor in Norfolk

Great idea for a thread OP. Following with interest.

I can't think of a single UK recommendation but the beds at the Insotel in Punta Prima (Menorca) were massive and very comfy. We have superking at home and these felt even bigger.

Kings head Cirencester
Carlo IV Prague

We have a super king at home so feels like a downgrade if we stay in a hotel with anything smaller

If the room details say you can choose between twin or double bed, it's likely to be a super king.

BG2015 · 23/12/2024 07:23

We stayed the Hotel Karamboa in Cape Verde had a super king size bed.

We would rather sleep in 2 singles than share a double!

I recommend the countries Austria and Germany, as de-recommend France, on this front.

@BG2015 I agree, I've started occasionally booking two twin beds if I can't get confirmation that I'd get a super king. One of the most annoying email responses I had a few years ago was: "Each of our double rooms vary, some have double beds, some have queen size beds and some have king size beds.
If you have a preference for a specific size, we can note this in your booking and we will certainly do our very best with this request. "

Seriously? So, I could have my holiday ruined by being stuck in a standard double bed for a week! No chance of my booking that hotel! I know from previous threads that some people think us super king fans are being dramatic, but I quite literally cannot sleep with my husband in a small bed, and no sleep = very bad.

With you in that op.

I cannot sleep with my wriggly, snoring, boiling hot, crocodile rolley husband in anything other than a super king!

I would be miserable very quickly.

I sometimes book a twin. If I can't be sure (he gets pouty but I don't care!)

We downsized in the summer and every house we looked at HAD to accommodate our super king size bed.

We too haven't enjoyed holidays as much as the bed has been too small.

I will never have a bed other than a sks now,

I find most hotels I have stayed in outside the UK have ziplink beds. So the equivalent of super king.

Only in width. They aren’t as long. DH’s feet stick out the end.

I second the recommendation for pretty much all German and Austrian hotels and rentals - seems to be standard there. Separate duvets too! (But the square pillows are useless…)

Hotels in resorts with lots of German tourists also seem to do this, Canaries for example.

The best bed in a hotel we’ve stayed in was Eden Mar Suite Hotel in Madeira. Sooo big, soooo comfy. (And the “put-you-up” for our child in the Junior suite was also a proper comfy decent bed). It’s part of the PortoBay group of hotels, so would assume other hotels in the chain would have the same beds? Tempted to try one, just for the amazing bed!
