Anyone a Travel agent - If I try and book a holiday on 2 days notice (half term) will I really be able to get a bargain?

Thinking of going away half term as DH has booked the week off.

Can we really get a barain on two days notice bearing in mind it would be for half term (24th ish onwards) or will we end up somewhere really awful?

I'm not a travel agent, but of all the times we have gone on holiday, we have checked the price of the same holiday days before we fly, and only once has it been cheaper than what we paid 3+ months before.

Don't know if that answers your question or not!

I think you only get bargains these days if you're happy with allocation on arrival (not really practical with children).
Booking the separate components online is a good way to get a good deal, rather than booking a package tour.
