Austria/Bavaria spa hotel

I’m due in May and want to book a last relaxing trip to go away in February/early March before the baby comes. Initially we were thinking of winter sun but don’t want to travel too far so we’re now thinking of a nice spa hotel in nature in places like Austria, Bavaria, Switzerland or Italy.

We’ve seen some beautiful hotels - Naturhotel Forshofgut and Forestis in the Dolomites but with prices starting from around £6000 for a week they’re way out of our budget!

We have a maximum budget of around £3000 and would like to go for at least 5 nights but we want to stay somewhere that has a little bit of a feeling of luxury, not the basic ski hotels we’ve stayed in in the past! Is this possible within our budget?

We’re open minded on location, the main thing is somewhere relaxing with views and nature.

Not sure what exact dates you have looked at but Bavarian schools have a week off 3-7 March which might affect costs in the region for that week. So definitely check before and after those dates.
Might be worth looking at the Falkensteiner Hotels, they are very nice (not quite Forsthofgut level but still v good!) or the Familux Resorts (there a few in south Germany/Austria

but be aware the adults only spa is bathing costume not allowed - got to be comfortable with nudity.

You need somewhere where there is no skiing…. What about Abano Terme, just south of Padova in Italy? Loads of spa hotels and less expensive, although slightly medical (full of people definitely going there for health reasons!)

Traube Tonbach in the Black forest, wonderful food as well. But be aware swimsuits are very much in short supply in some areas ie naked in many parts, but swimming in the outside pools costumes are worn"!
