December train ride to see snowy mountains and maybe a christmas market!

We would like to book a scenic train ride next year in Europe, probably the alps. Is there a good location to stay a few days, hopefully see a christmas market and spend one day on a train ride through some mountains? Any suggestions very gratefully received as I'm going round in circles on google...

The train ride from Munich to Ljubljana takes you through beautiful mountain scenery. (There is one change of trains en route, but the trains are timtabled to connect with each other.)

Salzburg to Innsbruck via Bischofshofen train goes through the alps (there are two routes, so check that it goes via Bischofshofen for the pretty views!) You usually have a single transfer at Schwarzach- St. Veit (an alpine town). Salzburg Christmas market is also lovely.

Geneva or Zurich, Salzburg or Innsbruck

Been a while since I went but riding up the Brocken on the open verandah behind the ending was marvellous.

Salzburg for a city experience with a Christmas market. For the train ride, take a day trip on the train or #260 bus (the bus is more scenic and takes not much longer than the train does) from Salzburg to Zell am See, then the narrow gauge railway from Zell am See to Mittersill along the valley. If you have time (or want to stay one night in the area) you can also ride up the cable car on Kitzsteinhorn near Zell am See to the highest peak in Salzburgerland, where snow is guaranteed.

Salzburg to Munich can be quite snowy, it was last time we went 3 years ago.
Frieburg up to Titzee is usually snowy too
