Any recommendations, not haven or Center parcs. Something similar to the Cotswold one that looks fab but no availability. Indoor pool with a slide or two for toddlers.

thanks

Why no Haven?

I've heard this too - they said it was well worth the 4-5 hour drive from where we live, far better than CP as most of the activities are included and it was cheaper even factoring in petrol etc.

CelticPromise · 10/12/2024 14:47

Yep Bluestone is good.

Retrospeaker · 10/12/2024 14:49

Another one for Bluestone

It's a shame he refused to try Center Parcs, it's amazing for young kids. A whole separate children's pool/slides/au area, all restaurants have play areas, free baby food, kids menus, activities for kids..... out of all our holidays when the kids were little, CP was our favourite - and the easiest!

Butlins might be an option - but if he doesn't want Haven or CP I'm guessing he'd be too stuck up for that as well?

Tillow4ever · 10/12/2024 15:05
  • au area -= play area
Fran91 · 10/12/2024 15:25

@Tillow4ever - Butlins might be an option but I’d prefer detached accommodation personally as we’re early risers. When I say detached a caravan is fine so nothing fancy.

I like the thought of Center Parcs but it’s £1500 for 3 nights with only the pool included so rather expensive.

bluestone is on the to do list for next year so not for twixmas plus it’s fully booked.

You can do caravans at Butlins (I went for the first time this year).

Center parcs we used to go midweek for about £300 max by going in term time. You can definitely get cheaper than £1,500 - we paid less than that for a midweek break for 5 of us in the summer holidays this year! It was £849 for the week.

Watch out if you’ve got an Irish surname.
My surnames on a blacklist 🤣🤣🤣🤣

( no idea if centre parks also still have their blacklist )

Fran91 · 10/12/2024 15:43

Thanks all. I’m expecting to pay more given that I want to go in two weeks over Christmas but there’s a limit how much % extra I’ll pay!

mitogoshigg · 10/12/2024 15:56

If your dh doesn't want haven, I'd certainly avoid butlins, butlins is haven on steroids! All the park companies have different levels of park, look at places like Park holidays, park resorts etc at their better quality parks, some have good indoor pools and the gold and platinum caravans are no different to other companies

Fran91 · 10/12/2024 16:32

@mitogoshigg howling at that. Firm serve away from butlins then. We’ve done Sandymouth and liked that but feel weve done the area and the pool was lacking a slide but the soft play was fab and proximity to things to do.

I have two New Forest recommendations

Sandy Balls is brilliant, but very popular and quite expensive during holidays, but depends on your budget. We really liked the park, but the indoor pool doesn't have much for toddlers - just two small wading areas. The outdoor playgrounds here were really lovely. They have hot tub cabins, which could be a good compromise with toddlers as they should be warm, and it has a small softplay that's good for littler ones.

Oakdene Forest Park was lovely, quite basic as a camp but right on the edge of a nice forest walk and 5-min drive to Avon Heath Country Park which had an amazing playground. We used a private caravan here from this company https://www.scottcaravanlettings.co.uk/, it was the Marigold 9 caravan specifically, but they all look nice. Thought the price was reasonable in summer holidays and it was a lot nicer than the basic caravans you book through Shorefield for that site. Indoor pool had a little bit more than Sandy Balls, but nowhere near a Centerparcs level!

@boymum1989 perfect suggestions thanks. Oakdene looks ideal, just a slide for a bit of extra entertainment!

Not sure if you mean you would need a slide or it has a slide - the slide is definitely for older children as it comes out into the deep end
