Holidays for shy children!

Looking for advice on some resorts / holiday destinations that have lot of child-friendly activities that you can use that aren't part of the kids club. My two children are 4 and 1 and we are going with friends who have a 4 and 2 year old. All of our children are very shy and we don't really want to use a kids club (all children are in nursery full-time, so we'd quite like to spend time with them!).

I've sort of looked at Kinderhotels and Royal Son Bou Family Club but not sure how much of the kids stuff you can use if you don't use the kids club. Thanks so much!

Arminda hotel in Crete had a kids club with a room full of toys you could play with independently. Lots of jigsaws, puzzles, cars, colouring sheets. Can't remember now if it was open all day or just when the kids club sessions were on, but there was no need to join in with their scheduled activities, we just played by ourselves indoors while they entertained older children outside. Great hotel for those ages, nice kids pool with slides and a play area both with shade. Beach just a minute away in a lovely calm bay. Mini disco in the evening - our DD was 3 and very shy but she loved the music and silly dancing!

At most hotels you don't have to leave your children alone in the kids club for them to have access to the toys. There aren't many kids clubs that take children under 4 anyway. Unless it states otherwise (or message them and check), I'd assume that you can access the toys and join in with any age appropriate activities like face painting or crafts as long as you stay with them.
