I doubt it as it was self induced! You can fly up to 36 weeks if you have permission from your dr though some insurance copmpanies will only insure you up to 28 weeks. If you have an insurance company which insures women in late pregnancy then you might get your money back if you were too unwell to fly and had a dr's note stating that.

am wrangling for compensation for flights booked prior to being pg and not allowed to fly due to a complication

can you not check with your insurance and see what your policy covers before you book?

Read the small print carefully. Some will cover you, some won't. They have no way of knowing whether the pg was planned or not, so won't take that into account.

I got insurance when pg that covered me when I ended up in hospital at 23 weeks and had to cancel our holiday. And it covered me even though it was the same condition I'd had in the previous pg. But I did read through several lots of insurance cover before I found one that would.

What I didn't notice was that the excess was per person - so 4 times what I thought it was!

Not if you were too pregnant to fly. Most insurance will not cover pregnancy beyond about 26 weeks at all for any reason. However, if you were became pregnant and had complications before the cut off date and had to cancel your trip, then it would probably be covered.
