Stopover from Australia? Singapore, Hong Kong or somewhere else?

Hi all, we’re flying back from Australia in July. Just my husband and I. Thinking about a stopover for a couple of nights.

We’ve been to Hong Kong 10 years ago and loved it. I would go again. Or Singapore. We haven’t been to Singapore. Not fussed about Kuala Lumpur.

Anyone got any recommendations? Thanks.

In July it's typhoon season in Hong Kong so Singapore is probably safer (it'll be hot and humid but it always is anyway)

On the flight times, we didn’t fancy the 15 hours overnight back from Sing. We flew Emirates and that meant we could leave Sing at 9am, 7 hour flight, stopped in Dubai for 3 hours for a leg stretch and a meal, another 8 hour flight to London and we got home at 10pm. It was a LONG day due to the time difference but we got home, went to bed and found we had basically 0 jetlag. Absolutely would chose again as opposed to 15 hours direct, unless we could pay for business class.

Thanks again everyone! Flights from HK looking quite good. Although I’m now a bit worried about the typhoon risk. I’ll need to go and check that out. Yes it’s a long slog but we’re flying business as a treat. We’re visiting my son in NZ first then coming back via Australia for some sun,

Probably fair enough to factor Typhoons in, especially in season, but I wouldn't avoid the place solely because of them.

I used to visit HKG maybe half a dozen times a year over a 20 plus year period and only encountered one of the things. That one shut the airport for about 12 hours.

Have to say SIN is generally more benign..mostly the problem there is regular PM thunderstorms..

Singapore is great for 2/3 nights. Also the airport is pretty close to the city which helps. Much nicer than KL which is a bit bland IMO

Hong Kong is a whole separate trip IMO
