Anyone who's been to Bergen at Christmas - shoe question

I am not sure which board this should go on but I am very nervous about icy pavements and slipping but wonder if anyone has been to Bergen at Christmas time and could tell me if full traction snow boots would be overkill?

Hi, OP. We've moved your thread to our Holidays board now - hope that helps you get some replies.

We have a house much further up and I wear Merrell Decora
when ever I'm there ( winter), merino wool socks as it is cold and you need a thick sole.
Mine are studded but friends will wear crampons.

Oh gosh, Bergen will be amazing for Christmas. It's a gorgeous city.

It'll be very cold, so take warm boots. They're very efficient with the gritters so main streets and so on are unlikely to be a problem, but if you're worried you could get some Yaktrax or something similar, and have them ready in case you come across icy stretches. They slip on over your shoes and give you perfect traction on ice. Have a wonderful time, OP!

I managed in Isle Jacobsen wellies. Even in snow. I did wear some biker boots occasionally if deep snow.

Studded boots or winter boots with ice grips on the bottom. Mine were cheap, £15 from Amazon I think and ideal when you only need studs occasionally
