Romantic day and evening.

I did start a thread last week about this but plans have changed slightly.
It's our wedding anniversary a week tomorrow and we want to go away for the day and night, we don't want to spend too much though. Any ideas? We're in Barnsley S.Yorks so not too far like Edinburgh or London. Also somewhere which has plenty to offer in the evening.
Thanks.

We would like a nice hotel but not 5star as we don't want to spend too much and somewhere that has things to offer on an evening.

I was going to suggest vivat for romantic cottages but as they're mostly rural you won't findwww.mumsnet.com/Talk much to do in the evenings!
They are amazing though - we stayed in one of their properties in Shropshire for our honeymoon.
They do have some last minute discounts.

Wow cupcakes they are gorgeous! Though it's still a bit too much to spend. Thanks anyway.

I love Edinburgh and its really doable from you - plenty to do, nice hotels and atmospheric.

What kind of budget are you on?

We have'nt set an amount but not too much. We did find a great deal to stay at the radisson for £39 in Edinburgh but it's travelling we don't really want to do as dh spends alot of time driving and I can't drive.
I'm going to price up a trip to paris I think!!

Are you near Manchester? I stayed here, Eleven Didsbury Park recently and it was v nice. It would have been nicer with my partner. Cheaper than their sister hotel too (was working for a co with a crap budget for expenses so haggled and got quite a big reduction)

The Morrison? Don't forget to haggle or ask if there's an internet rate, whereever you call. Ooh, have a lovely time!
