Where can I go with my 16 year old daughter for some Winter sun? She likes shopping, food, music and dancing. We used to live in Dubai and she doesn't want to go there. Happy to travel up to 10 hours but we only have 5 night due to work constraints and other commitments. Budget up to £5-£6k all in.

I'd say that Miami is your best best for winter sun with shopping, dancing etc....

Thank you. Will look into it

i would also look at the Canary Islands like Tenerife.

Miami Beach do not admit under 21s into their clubs.

Maybe not the shopping but for music, food and dancing (and guaranteed sun), Barbados is lovely and the flight time isn’t too bad at 7-8 hours.

The Gambia?

FlutteryButterfly · 19/11/2024 18:08

Don't go long haul, it takes a day or so to adjust to the differing timezone. You'll just about manage it then be o your way home.

Have been to Barbados before but will consider it. The Gambia is interesting. Will look into it. I think Tenerife would be too cold

South Africa? Qatar has lots to offer these days for fly/flop. Otherwise Caribbean or Mexico

Truetoself · 19/11/2024 22:59

Thanks. Went to South Africa this year already. Qatar is on my radar as well. Will look up things to do

Do some research if you are seriously considering the Gambia, as I am not sure there is much outside of the hotels. As friend said they were basically trapped in the hotel for a week, this was a good 10 years ago though. I haven't been, but Mauritius is a slightly longer 12.5 hour flight however the time difference is minimal, I think it's 3 hours. The flights, when I was looking for us, were overnight in both directions so maximum time to spend at your destination. Egypts red sea resorts seem a pleasant 28 degrees at the moment, dropping a little bit as you head to December, worth considering, but again possibly not much to do outside the hotel and the reef. I know someone else suggested Qatar, I think that could be your best option for things to do as well as warmth.

Cancun

If you want sun and sunbed flop with great weather then def the Gambia 6 hr flight , not too expensive
Otherwise I'd not bother - it's really unpleasant to go anywhere
The very young men on the look out for any woman and the disgusting old men with very beautiful local girls really pissed me off
