MrsNessaSmithy · 16/11/2024 08:42

I am getting married at short notice and plan a honeymoon early December.

any recommendations for hotels ? Was hoping to go somewhere warm so Mexico / Caribbean but open to ideas.

life has been stressful so an all inclusive relaxing honeymoon would be amazing.

How much are you willing to spend?

anythinginapinch · 16/11/2024 12:00

Turks and Caicos. Windhammer resort. Adults only. You must go for a sea-facing villa omg heaven. Direct flight 8.5 hours virgin airways.

Paradise Cove in Mauritius

It is adults only, just gorgeous! I still think back fondly to it a decade later.

we booked with Trailfinders and combined it with 4 nights Safari in South Africa

Dubai is not somewhere that I want to go.

You would be far safer than Mexico and parts of the Caribbean 🤷🏻‍♀️.

YaWeeFurryBastard · 17/11/2024 15:23

Gosh no, not Dubai, especially not for a special honeymoon trip, your £6k would get you something much nicer in December assuming not school holidays.

Mexico/caribbean are perfectly fine and safe as long as you know where you’re going, stick to organised trips and don’t go wandering in areas you don’t know. Have a look at the secrets resorts in Mexico, they’re pretty nice and the flight from the UK isn’t too bad. Could also try Barbados? I believe O2 beach club is lovely and Barbados is very safe.

Dominican Republic. Ambar Bahia. We went last year and loved it. Booked again for next summer.

MissFritton65 · 18/11/2024 14:16

We went to South Africa for our honeymoon. We started in Cape Town which is a beautiful city with some fantastic hotels and restaurants. We then flew to Kruger National Park for a safari. Absolutely amazing experience!

We have just returned from The Slate on Phuket, Thailand. Absolutely fantastic and perfect for a honeymoon.

Any Sandals resort. They are made for honeymoons.

@CaribbeanVoyager what a great name :) that St Martin looks fab. Do you know what the snorkeling is like there?

I adore Turks, happy to return there, but also like new places but it's all about the sea life and snorkeling for me so eg Barbados not so great

Hi, yes. I have snorkeled there, various good spots. Right under fort Amsterdam is a good one, with wide variety of fish. Also sunken boats etc. More importantly, they recently opened an underwater sculpture park there of over 300 historical scenes. I have not explored that one though.

Btw, is sealife is your thing, consider Saba. Beautiful island and core thing is diving. Idyllic place to get married also. Just no beaches, but a lot of other great stuff. See Sabatourism.com.
