Should we avoid Rome during the Jubilee year?

Our sons are very keen to go to Rome and are at a good age to visit now. We planned to go the week after Easter but now realise it is the Jubliee year. Would you still go? Renovations are supposed to be completed but crowds are predicted to be huge all year.

Rome is already a crowded city so I'd skip Rome or postpone your trip until 2026.

We're going early February and wasn't aware of the jubilee. I'm just hoping it's not a good time to go to Rome unless you're a rugby fan.

I was thinking of going next year also, but all the reports I'm reading have put me right off going in the Jubilee Year. So it's 2026 for me hopefully instead.

I was going to go in late January/early Feb when I thought crowds would not be too bad, but looking at some YouTube clips it seems that it's all year round now, and people are going to the Trevi at 5am sometimes to get close to it. The queues for the Vatican Museum and the Colloseum look massive too OUTSIDE of the Jubilee Year. Rome was always a very popular and tourist filled city anyway.

But it's up to you of course, don't take my word for it!

Bollocks. I didn't know about this and am booked for April 2025.

I live in Rome and I would definitely recommend booking your trip around the bigger events that are planned for next year (youth event at the end of July/beginning of August especially) but otherwise I wouldn’t worry too much. There’ll always be crowds when you go.

@jotex thank you, I think there is a teenage event at the end of the week we planned - we are looking to go the 22nd-25th April. There does seem to be an event every few weeks though.
