Palermo - although not mainland. It has some great street food, and we found it easy to walk around the city.

Best treat in a meh city... Milan, round the corner from the Duomo, Panzerotti Luini. Mini calzone, fried. I would walk over broken glass for them.

Venice was incredible for street food and I went solo with my DD (7) - we had the best trip! Not sure I’d want to be watching a toddler constantly to ensure they didn’t fall in

Genova, home of pesto and focaccia. And pesto focaccia 😊

Naples definitely

Markets in Palermo are fantastic for this

Spanish Quarter is where it's all happening. It's a bit too busy for me to stay there though. We stayed near Muncipio and the port, which is close enough but a bit quieter.

I don't know about the best street food, but I'd stay in Old Town in Naples (Centro Storico).

sproutsandparsnips · 15/11/2024 23:24

I second Bologna

The Centro Storico (Historic Centre) of Naples has takeaway wood fired pizza places that sell the best pizza you will ever taste and for less than 3 euros each.

If you like street food San Sebastian in Northern Spain would be great. They have mini bar snacks called pinxtos. It would be good with a toddler. They have nice play areas for dc.

Not Italy tho!
