Australia

I like Australia and have been three times. I like it because they speak English and I don't do well in countries where I don't speak the language and they cannot understand me. I recently went to Australia and really enjoyed it and I want to go again but what puts me of is the amount of money it costs and the time it takes to get there. I don't mind a long haul flights but the jet lag takes longer to get over each time I do it and someone said to me why don't I spend the same amount of money going to a different country and experiencing a new culture because even if I go to a different part of Australia each time the culture is still more or less the same so I'm not really benefiting and if I go to Europe I could have three times the amount of holidays then I could with one long hole to Australia because the amount of money that I spend going to Australia could give me three holidays to Europe indifferent countries experiencing a new culture each time like France or Germany or Spain so I just don't know if that's better or the time wasting my money to keep going to Australia

Did you go to Tasmania when you were in Australia? I recommend it.

aveenobambino · 13/11/2024 12:06

OP you're being blunt and rude when people are trying to help. It's irritating and unnecessary

New Zealand is as far as Australia but better scenery.

Canada - bearwatching in the Rockies?

Safari in Africa (Kenya, S Africa, Botswana - ££££ but may work for you)

Costa Rica

In Europe: for English speakers:
Ireland
Malta
Croatian coast
Portugal

For wildlife holidays in Europe take a look at destinations suggested on this site (just for research, not recommending it as I know nothing about it): Wildlife Holidays in Europe | Wildlife Worldwide

Are you travelling alone or with children and a partner? Do you want to hire a car, travel by public transport, or go on an organised tour?

If after doing a bit of research you still like Australia best then by all means go back there. It's your holiday,, your money, you should do what you like.

Well everybody is different and I prefer Australia over New Zealand I have been to Wellington and didn't like it and then travel to the Suburbs of Wellington which was a bit nicer but still didn't do anything for me

I dont like nz

Come over to us in Canada - amazing people, scenery, wild open spaces, interesting cities and the majority speak English (even where we are in Montreal where French is our primary language).

Thiswayorthatway · 13/11/2024 18:32

Jeez, Australia is welcome to you OP.

There’s nothing boring about NZ and in particular the South Island. You can go cruising down the West Coast of the South Island, stopping to look at the Pancake Rocks and Franz Josef Glacier. Or, driving from Christchurch to Queenstown via scenic wonders such as Lake Tekapo and Lake Pukaki.

You seem to have very set ideas about the world when you appear to have seen so little of it.

Where have you been in Canada. I live here and could make some further recommendations

sonjadog · 13/11/2024 18:55

Lots of places in Europe where it is easy to get around in English. Malta and Ireland for two. Also any of the Nordic countries are easy to travel to.

But it is okay to just go to Australia if that is what you want to do. It's your holiday, spend it as you choose.

Toronto,?

No offence to the people of Toronto but for holidays I would suggest in the west - Vancouver and the island, Banff and Jasper. To the east, PEI and Nova Scotia (I love these islands). For cities you can’t go wrong with Montreal and Quebec.

I did go to banff but it was the wrong time of year and the tourist stuff were closed. I was also in calgary. I just felt those areas were not for me

Banff has very different seasons with summer being the busiest, winter sports and the fall. Did you go to Lake Louise, Moraine, Emerald Lake and Johnston Canyon? We have treated ourselves to a stay at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.
What did you do in Calgary? You still have the majority of Canada you could visit.

Flute56 · 14/11/2024 15:12

I wanted to go to Lake Louise but I wasn't sure how to get there once I sorted out how to get there it was too late because I was under tour and somebody said there's a local bus that takes you there but it takes quite a long time to get from the century of town to Lake Louise on that bus so I couldn't do it because I only had limited time and then the bus was taking me back to Calgary so I said by the time I get on the bus I'd be stranded because the tour bus would have already left to go back to Calgary

I'm not really bothered because I prefer places that are open all year round for tourists sorry but just the Way It Is all the museums in art galleries in London are open all year round so whatever time of year you go you can always do something if Canada have restrictions then I'm not interested anymore and I won't be returning to Canada

You are very blinkered - Canada is of course open to tourists all year round without restrictions but some activities take place at different times of the year due to the climate. It’s loving having four proper and distinct seasons.

I have no idea what the question is here.

Enjoying your refreshingly candid replies.
For what it's worth I also loved Australia have been to the west and east coasts plotting a trip to Darwin!
/ broome etc. if you love it why not return it's an entire continent after all!!

BuzzieLittleBee · 16/11/2024 00:04

Have you 'done' the east coast of the US, or have you been to Florida? There is very much more to eastern USA than Florida... North and South Carolina, New York, Connecticut, Marine, Rhode Island, Massachusetts... all have a lot of variety and places to visit.

In Europe, English is widely spoken in many of the countries PPs have suggested - Croatia & Slovenia, Netherlands & Belgium, Germany & Austria...

But I suspect there's little point me recommending anywhere as we fundamentally disagree on what constitutes a nice place to visit - NZ is stunning. Especially the South Island. I would say Wellington and its suburbs are not the finest parts of the country, but I'd never write off an entire country on the basis of one place.

South Island of New Zealand is one of the most stunning places I have been.

I have to say, your answers on here have been most bizarre. You have been rude to people trying to help you, and then adding in bits of information that were not apparent before they offered advice.

Not really sure what you want from this thread as you don't seem open to any of the help people have offered.

We are all different with our individual likes and dislikes and you cannot force somebody to like something just because you like it
