weather just be too awful for anything outdoorsy?

can a nice holiday be had at this time of year?

Not necessarily, we’re out and about here all year round. But also there’s a high chance of storms/wet. Depends on what sort of outdoorsy activities you’re wanting to do and whether it’s the sort of stuff you can change your mind about when you wake up and it’s blowing a hoolie outside. Definitely have indoor backup plans!

Cairngorms/Aviemore is a great area all year round. Lots of winter sports and outdoor activities whatever the weather.

Can be snowy and stormy but also have had lovely clear winter days. The Highlands are spectacular when it’s snowy - but need to allow travel time and if driving have tires that are up to it. Still pretty short days in Feb though so pick comfy accommodation and make plans for what you’ll do in the evenings.
