Eurocamp or similar with a dog

Can anyone recommend a good park which is no more than 6 hours from Calais and in a dog friendly area (we have to get the shuttle due to the dog). Great water park for my 5 year old DS too.

Looking for next August so peak time

I keep reading negative reviews of parks which put me off. Id rather be inland as beaches don’t allow dogs that time of year. Will be our first trip of this type, we’ve done airbnb before

Quiberon is bit further but amazing - worked there myself as a rep many moons ago - Le Conquel. Not sure of it they take dogs.

Bit further but La Garangoire take dogs and even have a dog field now.

Le Mané Guernehué allows dogs and there are actually quite a few dog friendly beaches nearby, including Mane Guen, Lizeau and Drehen which allow dogs all year round.

Also interested in this. Looking to take our puppy on his first trip abroad this summer

SurreyisSunny · 09/11/2024 07:36

@Bisognodelsole we took my dog away first time when he was 7 months old. It was seamless at Dover and so well organised. The animal health certificate was expensive though

@Forgottenmyphone oh that’s useful to hear, I keep reading that dogs aren’t allowed from 8-8 in the summer months on the beaches.

Sorry can't edit, you are right that most beaches won't allow dogs during high season, so you need to check depending on which campsite you choose if there are dog friendly beaches nearby.
We are going to one (South of France, so probably too long drive for you) that won't allow dogs on their main beach, but there's a dog beach 10 min walk away.

We really liked Les Peneyrals in the Dordogne. We went with Eurocamp but I think they stopped now.

@MissAmbrosia how far is the drive? We loved the Dordogne with our dog as so dog friendly in terms of things to do but last time broke the journey both ways and don’t want to do that this time

@Forgottenmyphone just had a look and Le Mané Guernehué looks amazing but already fully booked for next August!

Ah probably more than 6 hours!

DecafDodger · 10/11/2024 11:55

SurreyisSunny did you check their own website? I put random august week in and it shows me plenty of availability. I believe they only rent for a full week though, so you might not get any availability for other periods.

SurreyisSunny · 10/11/2024 19:39

@DecafDodger no idea what I was doing as can now see availability! Thankyou
