Costa Rica: Drake Bay and Osa Peninsula - enough for an active teen?

Thinking of going to CR next August. We've been told that Drake Bay and Osa Pen is unbelievably beautiful and rich in wildlife/marine life.

14 year old DC loves the idea of it, and will love it but I feel slightly concerned that there isn't a lot of other activity. No pool etc. I know that sounds RIDICULOUS and I hate writing it, but I want to do everything I can to get them off phones.

So, my question is - if you've been, what was this area like? And more generally, Costa Rica for teens?

Any input/thoughts etc welcome.

Hi, I've been to Costa Rica twice though it was over 10 years ago. We covered a good bit of the country but discounted Osa peninsula as it was so remote and difficult to get to ( may have changed now). We met someone who had been there and they had been bitten by a scorpion. They became partially paralyzed and because it was so remote they couldn't get to a hospital. They were fine in the end but it put me off travelling there!

Would you consider going further north? There's loads for teens - volcano trips, jungle zip lining, nighttime jungle treks, surfing, lake activities, horseback treks, coffee farms. It's such a gorgeous country, full of wildlife and we skipped lots of the heavily touristy spots.
