Does anyone have any recent experience of how long it takes to get a visa for India? (UK citizen.)

I think got my 1 year tourist evisa overnight late August /early sep this year. I think they say allow 5 working days though.

What sort of visa are you applying for?

Just a tourist visa. I'm going in January so if it takes six weeks as per PP, then I need to apply soon.

There are 2 types of tourist visa though. If you want up to 30 days, then you can't apply more than 30 days in advance of entry. To apply now, you'd need a 1-year or a 5-year one (more expensive, worth it if you plan to travel multiple times).
