Exciting hotel for kids somewhere around Lancaster

Hi all

We will be driving from Milton Keynes to the Scottish borders after Christmas and I am looking for a fun place to stay with 2 kids age 5 and 9 somewhere roughly half way so I suppose just north of Manchester/ the Lake district.

Any ideas?

Last year we broke the journey differently and completely lucked out with a hotel in Leicester where there was a separate adjoining room to the master that had bunk beds for the kids, that was all done up like the inside of a space ship with buttons to press and lights. Not the kind of gem that Google tells you about.

I would be interested in similarly exciting rooms and / or something with winter friendly activities.

No exciting rooms as such, but the Mercure Blackburn is in Accrington and has an indoor pool, and outdoor space, so provided it isn't raining you could kick a football about!

Family suite at the swan in newby bridge ? They bring milk and cookies to your room for the children at bedtime.
