Portugal... Where is everyone?

I am in Portugal for half term and surprised how quiet it is. Went 30 years ago at the same time and it was heaving with tourists.

I was curious to wonder if it was the Madeleine McCann incident which has caused tourism in the area to decline? Or are there just more destinations to choose from these days?

Half-term is over for most schools around here and I wouldn't risk portugal in November if I wanted guaranteed sun.

It's normally full of American democrats with residency but they've gone back to vote.

It's late in the season for Portugal IMO, are you sure you didn't go a little earlier 30 years ago?

Where are you? We went to a little village in the Algarve this summer and it was beautifully quiet. Friends down the coast were jam packed.
