British Airways or Singapore Airlines?

We have a bit of a once in a lifetime trip to SE Asia and looking to book business class flights and unsure which way to go. I know this is a first world problem.

It is either Singapore Airlines on a A350.
I know the reputation is out of this world, the seats however need to be manually converted into lie-flat mode. From reading online reviews, this came up consistently as a con, which made me hesitate.

The other is British Airways.
Flying out would be the 777 new Club Suites (which I've travelled in before with work) but the flight back is the higgledy piggledy A380, which looks quite cumbersome.

I just booked the British Airways flights and now hesitating on whether I should go with Singapore Airlines. I have about 20 hours to cancel and get my money back and pick the other flight.

So this poll and all your reviews and insight is very much appreciated and needed in urgency!

I have done both. Singapore 100%. BA cabin crew were scruffy, disinterested and too busy chattering to each other.

TakeMe2Insanity · 01/11/2024 20:00

If you can I’d do Qatar airways their business class is amazing. Obviously you’d have to change in Doha.

Doggymummar · 01/11/2024 20:01

Sq every time

craftysnake · 01/11/2024 20:02

Grammar police here …

you mean uninterested. Disinterested means impartial

Singapore airlines. I don't remember the bed being an issue, and everything else is vastly superior.

Letsnotargue · 01/11/2024 20:09

100% Singapore. We flew BA to South Africa and everything just felt a bit meh. The crew were stressed and seemed like we were a big inconvenience to them, they ran out of the only sensible food option and couldn’t be less bothered by it.

The Singapore beds do need to be turned around to go fully flat, but it takes seconds and I wouldn’t give it a second thought, it really wouldn’t be in my list for consideration.

We have also flown Qatar and their service was ace, although it was a slight notch above Singapore I wouldn’t say it was at all necessary. I’ve never had anything other than amazing service on Singapore.

Oh god - I'm really leaning towards Singapore Airlines now!

If I ever had a choice NOT to fly BA, I would take it

Same here. Singapore every time.

British airways are extremely unreliable at the moment. I know 5 people who have had flights cancelled in the last month whilst waiting to board. All completely unrelated to each other. I don't even know that many people so for me to have that statistic they must be cancelling an awful lot of flights!!! Not to mention how much they like to lose luggage!!!

Anasbananas · 01/11/2024 21:21

Singapore! No question ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

sonjadog · 01/11/2024 21:22

Definitely Singapore over BA. But over Singapore, I would choose Quatar airways. They surpassed all others hugely.

SophiaJ8 · 01/11/2024 21:23

Singapore, no contest. BA are absolutely abysmal.

Cas112 · 01/11/2024 21:24

Singapore!!!!

Jewelanemone · 01/11/2024 21:25

Singapore Airlines!! We fly with them every year to Indonesia and have never once had a problem. The crew are friendly and attentive, the planes are clean and comfortable and the food is good. Their partner airline, Scoot, is also very good for a budget airline for onward connecting flights. Several times they've actually arrived early at the destination airport.

paristotokyo · 01/11/2024 21:25

Singapore!

TheRealKatnissEverdeen · 01/11/2024 21:26

BAs Business Class is one of the least enjoyable I've ever experienced.
Singapore definitely.
Second another poster who mentioned Qatar. They've been my favourite to date.

HawaiiWake · 01/11/2024 21:27

SQ, great airline and the cabin crew will change it into a flat bed mode super quick for you. Food is better and the food in Business class lounge is super. Once you in SE Asia, you can use SQ for other countries or their SQ budget airline which is Scoot. If you traveling to other places, worth doing the booking with SQ in 1 go, we got Bali for £50 return due to discounts.

JMSA · 01/11/2024 21:29

It seems to be a no-brainer!
Someone should link this thread to BA as it sounds like they need a kick up the complacent arse.
Enjoy your trip, OP.

StampOnTheGround · 01/11/2024 21:31

Singapore airlines are absolutely fantastic, easy choice OP!

december2020 · 01/11/2024 22:17

I don't think I've heard a single good thing about British Airways' Business class, let along the whole airline on this thread!

Seems like BA's business class is meh from everyone's experience!

Just chiming in with another SQ all the way.... BA long haul is very poor whereas Singapore actually give a shit.

Brombat · 01/11/2024 22:32

Spend time looking at the Skytraxx reviews?

Always fun.

Fillybuster · 01/11/2024 22:33

Flew Business Class to New York on BA recently and the service was disappointing in both directions, whilst even my economy experience of SA was amazing. Definitely change the booking OP!

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 01/11/2024 22:53

Had the pleasure of a 18 hour flight each way from Seattle to Singapore in February with SQ. Loved every minute of it.

Except for Seattle. And their business lounge sucked (SQ removed their dedicated lounge).
