Sun from New Zealand in July?

That’s not too far from Auckland?

We’re visiting my son in Auckland in July (the only time we can go) and are looking to go somewhere warm with him then fly home to the UK (he’ll return back to Auckland)

Ideas so far are Fiji, Rarotonga (but that seems to mean a return trip to Auckland which makes for a hellish return home to the UK) or new contender Port Douglas in Queensland. We’re looking for relaxation but also stuff to do, not a fan of big resorts.

I had some advice on NZ already on here which was brilliantly helpful. So hoping for some good intel to help with this. Thanks!

We went to the Cook Islands on our way back from NZ. It was fabulous! Raratonga and Aitutaki.

Thanks! Do you happen to remember where you flew into afterwards? I can’t find any international flights towards the UK from Rarotonga, only to Australia and NZ.

We flew back to the UK via Los Angles (I think).

This was 23 years ago though!

Port Douglas is lovely if you can't get decent flights back to the US.
