Is it worth paying to prebook seats together with Thomson holidays?

Or can you just turn up to check in and hope for the best?

Given the security controls, we like to turn up way too early anyway (have a paranoia about missing flights since my sister disappeared on me at Malta airport to go snog some Italian bloke she'd literally just met in the check-in and we had to run across the tarmac to the plane!) and are generally first/second to check in.

So do we fork out £36 to sit together in advance or take a chance? Is it worth it? (no way do I want to end up separated from DD on the plane, she's only 3!)

Thanks

Personally i wouldnt pay. We paid £108 with thomson 2 years ago and when we got to the airport we were told we'd be together anyway as we had a child under 3. If you're there really early anyway i definitely wouldnt bother. We only paid it as we're a family of 6 (had other family with us also). As most planes are seated 3 across i think its almost guaranteed you'll be together.
We claimed our £108 back from thomson (for other reasons)
BUT, if it gives you peace of mind then maybe its worth it.

I wouldn't pay as they are always asking people to move to allow a family to stay with young kids.

We were on a plane last summer when a single mum got on with her 2 kids at the last minute, (they arrived very late) and all hell broke loose when there were not 3 seats together.

We had checked in online & got seats together, but DH moved so they could be together (we were 3 + 1 on opposite side of aisle) as both kids (aged about 7&9) were scared of flying.

Fab, thanks very much for that - we will take our chances! (and buy some duty free with the savings!)
