Family Holiday - where to go?!

Hi everyone!

I'm looking to book our first family holiday abroad for next July. My children will be 4 and 7 and we are looking for the following;

  • short-ish flight -Majorca/Menorca/Spain mainland distance!
  • good children’s entertainment that will suit both ages eg. Mini disco! Lots of do to keep them busy!
  • nice food - my hubby is a bit of a foodie and so it is important to us that the food is high quality! Maybe a snack bar etc for the kids?
  • clean/well maintained
  • somewhere to wander to during the day and on an evening eg. a small resort/shops/bars etc
  • short transfer from the airport

I know - not asking for much, right?! 😂

Has anybody been anywhere recently that ticks all of the above and that they would recommend to us? I know Mumsnet is the BEST place to ask for advice!!

Thanks so much in advance - hoping to take grandparents with us too, so I’m desperate for it to be ‘right’.

xxx

I don't think the food offering on any family friendly resort would satisfy the foodie or tick the foodie box.

Otherwise I'd suggest The Royal Son Bou Family Resort in Menorca.

What's the budget and will you be going in school holidays or early July? How long do you want to go for?

The prices I have seen previously for what we’ve been looking at seem to range from about £3000 - £4000. I’m keen to keep it at the lower end of that if possible!

I did look at the Royal Son Bou @JumpstartMondays Thank you! Is the food nice?

Probably a week x

Yes it’ll be the school holidays.

I’m a bit clueless as we haven’t been abroad as a family before! Xx

@mummy1202 the food was fine, perfectly acceptable. Depends what you call nice I suppose! They have 2 'restaurants' on site which broadly offer the same thing. They did try and include some local/Menorcan/Spanish offering or a different style of cuisine (on rotation) each day alongside the usual pasta/pizza etc. At least they tried! We did leave the holiday wishing to never see another buffet for a long time though 😆

It was our first experience of a resort holiday so I've nothing to compare it to really. It was our first abroad holiday as a family. Very easy to get the bus into Mahon for a change of scenery and enough for kids to do on the resort site too.

I would go on Jet2holidays, enter your dates etc and then use the filters to narrow down the options and this will give you more of an idea of what is available in your budget. Have a look at the tripadvisor reviews too!

Majorca is lovely, gorgeous beaches, plenty to do and good variety of resorts. We liked Puerto Pollensa but that's around an hour transfer. Iberostar is a good brand with decent food.

We have stayed in the Son Bou too, very kid friendly hotel, food was fine although all buffet dining.
