Zanzibar

We're looking at a holiday that is mainly safaris in Tanzania, then a few days in Zanzibar.
My main concern is there doesn't seem to be much to do in Z. I don't want to sit around doing nothing - I save that for home !

Anyone been ? Thoughts please.

We were in Zanzibar last year after a safari in Kenya, lots to do … spice tour, Cheetah’s Rock, monkeys in Jozani forest, snorkelling, dolphin watching, Stone Town tour/Freddie Mercury museum and best of all, giant tortoises on Prisoner Island … we were exhausted after safaris and happy to relax by the pool while doing a bit of sightseeing …definitely factor in some down time but you will need 10 days to really see Zanzibar properly (don’t hire a car, read up on the warnings) we booked trips/taxis through our hotel etc it’s a beautiful place

@Wildehorses Thanks very much, that's very useful.

We found that it takes a long time to get between places in Zanzibar which contributes to needing more time than you might imagine. No specific recommendations to add to Wildehorses’ list, the rock restaurant is fun though.

We loved Stone Town. Wandering the lanes and markets, the slave market, and Freddy M museum.

We mainly used it for RnR though after a very hectic 12 days on safari, which was spectacular.

Agree The Rock was fun.

Zanzibar is fabulous! Two weeks would be a bit much but a few nights is perfect.
