Am I looking for something that doesn't exist?! Trying to find a hol for next week!

I want sunshine, warm enough to sunbathe and pools that aren't ice cold, I want some level of nightlife nearby and a resort town that isn't totally closed down for off season.

The weather forecast looks decent next week for Marmaris, Sharm El Sheikh, Puerto Del Carmen but I keep reading that it's off season and everything fun at night will be shut?

We're looking at Palma, Majorca right now and weather looks nice. There will be plenty open there.

foodtoorder · 27/10/2024 20:30

Sharm el sheikh/namma bay will not be closed down for the season

Anoisagusaris · 27/10/2024 20:32

Where are you reading that Puerto del Carmen will be closed down?

Gabbyghoul · 27/10/2024 20:35

Puerto del Carmen is a shithole.

It's the tacky equivalent of Blackpool, full of sports bars, Irish pubs and English tourists.

If we book a resort in Sharm/Naama is it safe enough to leave the resort to go to nightlife? I had heard dodgy things and best to stay on resort but want a bit of nightlife a couple of nights atleast Grin

Sounds ideal for someone looking for a bit of night life then.

Dubai fits your bill

CaptainCrocs · 28/10/2024 07:06

Just got back from Cyprus. Nice weather and everything still open. Pool was freezing though.

socks1107 · 28/10/2024 07:19

My daughter is going to share el sheikh in two weeks, I've no worries at all

TeamGeriatric · 28/10/2024 07:35

Valletta it's still mid 20s and the sea is still that temperature too. I don't know about swimming pools.

Invisablepanic · 28/10/2024 07:43

We are in Crete at the moment, been here a week and the weather has been lovely, yesterday was really hot although the forecast said 22degrees it felt much warmer. Looking ahead the weather for this week looks same as last so really nice. Couldn't recommend where we are staying as the pools are Baltic!

Twilightstarbright · 28/10/2024 07:57

PdC is a year round resort. I personally prefer Matagorda but I wouldn’t describe PdC as a shitehole.

Outdoor pools unless heated are cold now , got back yesterday. I did swim but had a swimming top on which made it better but still not really comfortable

Bjorkdidit · 28/10/2024 08:02

The western end (old town, playa Chica beach and round the marina area) of Puerto del Carmen is totally fine.

The Canaries are a year round destination and will be fully open and quite busy next week with it being half term.

FrenchandSaunders · 28/10/2024 08:04

Adeje, Tenerife fits your criteria.

SheilaFentiman · 28/10/2024 08:07

We went to Crete in this half term a couple of years ago. Weather was lovely, 22-25, but there were two pools and we could only go in the heated one (except DS2, who is a nutter, but even he only stayed in 5 mins in the cold one).

Maddy70 · 28/10/2024 08:11

Just come back from sitges. Lovely and warm in the day. Chilly at night sometimes needed a cardi. Everything still open

FortyFacedFuckers · 28/10/2024 10:19

I am going to adeje next week, went to Gran Canaria last year at the same time

Mountainyapyap · 28/10/2024 10:21

I'd go to Barbados it's still low season (just) but you'd never know it

AuntieDolly · 28/10/2024 10:27

Direct flights back from Crete finish soon and are mad expensive. Costa Teguise on Lanzarote is ok, but look for a heated pool if you can

letshavetea · 28/10/2024 10:37

Another recommendation for Barbados. It’s lovely and the sea is warm like a bath!

sunseeker19 · 28/10/2024 10:52

The south of Gran Canaria usually has great weather October half term and definitely doesn't feel like the resorts are closed by then. Forecast has total sunshine there for the week ahead!
