Just busted in on someone else's. Thread and immediately felt bad!!
We are going on a cruise in feb but need to stay before and afterwards in Barbados. Any areas or hotels ?
I really don't want big resorts and would like to see some of the island so open to suggestions please?!

I’ve stayed in Holetown at the Sandpiper where we could walk to various restaurants and shops easily. Also able to get the bus up and down the west coast which gave us the chance to explore. It was much calmer than St Lawrence Gap from the one night out down there that we had

I also stayed in Holetown and would recommend.

I'd also recommend Holetown - lots of good restaurants and the beaches there are great.

Mango Bay is a hotel there which I've seen recommended a lot (although I've never stayed there).

A hotel we have stayed at, twice, and really loved, is The Island Inn - sister hotel to Mango Bay. It's a 19th century building, which was originally the rum store for the nearby garrison. It's a boutique hotel, only 24 rooms, and just 100m from Pebbles Beach, where you can go and see the horses swimming each morning, led by their trainers from the nearby race course. This hotel is further down towards the South of the island.

Alternatively, depending on how long you're staying/how much you want to spend, we had a great AirBnB in Holetown this year, in the Suncrest development. Included in the rental is access to The Beach House pool and bar, which is right on the beach.

I am interested in keeping the cost down because the cruise I has meant I've sold my soul to the devil!!!
Also I like more low key places

If you're on Facebook, there are two Barbados groups that might be of interest: Barbados for Travellers and Barbados on a Budget. (There are probably more, but those are the ones I use)

We stayed in coconut court hotel, well the chalets across the road and would 10/10 recommend as they have their own mini reef and it is amazing. Plus the self catering rooms have fridges
