Is it just me or are flights and package holidays with TUI and Jet2 going on sale really early now?!
I'm sure they'd normally be released around 12-18 months before to places in Europe?

We've booked for April 2026 already

I booked a cruise for August 2026 about May this year!

we need to book well in advance to get accessible cabins -and save up

WitchyBits · 25/10/2024 16:08

I'm currently looking for a cruise in December 26 or Jan Feb 27. I always book two years ahead as it's the only way I can afford it, by spreading payments over 2 years at £50-100 a month.

Well just after posting I got an email for seascanner saying you could book certain cruises for just £1 deposit. So we are going to Spain/Portugal/Morocco in December 26 😁.

I wouldn't like to commit to something like that so far in advance as there's a whole host of 'what ifs'.

Can you even get travel insurance for so far in the future unless you commit to a continuous annual policy?

But I don't understand why people think it's the only way to spread the cost. You could save up instead, make a bit of interest and have less risk of 'we need to replace the car but can't afford to because we've spent the money that could pay for it on a luxury holiday' arising.

@Bjorkdidit

I'm paying £70 a month off this trip so I'm not really worried, I can save that by skipping a take away every other week. I'm also not worried about "what if" as I pay the select fare that means I get free name changes and I can change the date/destination if needed. I can even sell the holiday onwards when the prices intentionally go up and cover my costs 100%. By doing it the way I do it, I don't notice the money going to pay off a holiday and I get something to look forward to. I do also save up for other holidays asi like to go away various trips 3-4 times a year but I find with savings they tend to go on whatever that current emergency is.

And I do HAVE emergency savings, they are premium bins so for a genuine emergency. I won't need to replace the car as mine is only 6 weeks old.
