Romantic place in France

DH and I are thinking of going somewhere in France 19-23 May whilst DS is on a school trip. (It’s ok- MIL will be around for emergencies).

We’re after self-catering, not an apartment, somewhere far south enough to be a bit warm, with a view and ideally a pool.

We’ll get the train there. No car but we plan to just stay there, so a longish taxi from the station is fine.

Does anyone have any recommendations please?

Have a look at Les Cabanes de Provence. They’re a 40 min drive from Avignon (which you can take Eurostar to).

Nice is lovely, as is anywhere on Côte d'Azur, but I'd say the whole area would be great for a romantic getaway.

That’s just the sort of thing I’m after @Forgottenmyphone . Thank you.

Eurostar doesn't go direct to Avignon any more. Thanks Brexit...

@MaybeNotBob no, but the change in Paris is pretty painless and you can still book everything with Eurostar. www.eurostar.com/uk-en/train/london-to-avignon

I know the route to Avignon. I took the train there in April.

I’m after specific recommendations for romantic cottages/cabins.

Mougins in Provence, @MinnieMountain - heaven in one small place, but don't tell anyone Wink

Perched between Cannes and Grasse it's a beautiful place in itself for a week, with a regular bus which gets you to Cannes in no time at all - it's worth it just to wander the Croisette, see the old village on the hill and lust after the megayachts around the Pantiero!!

About 20 miles from Nice's airport, a taxi will cost around 90 Euros
