I’d love to visit Barcelona for example but Im not confident enough on my own and I’d like to learn from a guide so I know what I’m looking at. Google is throwing up 100s of companies & I don’t know where to start so I’m looking for recommendations of tried and tested companies?

Do you want to be part of a group holiday or just want a guide in a city after you arrive? We’ve used Cox and Kings for escorted tours. All had singles with them. DD had used Exodus and friends have too. All happy with their holidays.

Apologies. I don’t know if they do Art History.

Most of the group tour companies (Explore, Titan, Exodus etc.) will have local guides with specialist knowledge in addition to the tour leader so they have particular insight into the areas of interest. That said, it would be worth looking at a company like Kirker (v pricey though) or Arena tours as they have more specialist trips

I think be part of a group? I’ve never done it before and a bit nervous of being on my own.

Are you a member of the Art Fund? I receive their quarterly magazine as part of my subscription. I have seen art history tour holidays advertised in there. The present one shows an advert for Kirker Holidays that have tours to art galleries.

Travel Editions do art tours.

Im not sure to be honest, I like to idea of being guided by an expert to show me round and the safety of a group. I’m quite shy so it would be a challenge to do things like shared meals but I think it would be worth it for me. I’ve never heard of the Art Fund before, thank you I’m going to look that up.
