I am looking for a safe area to stay in, planning on visiting the following areas…

Universal Studios
Hollywood sign viewing/walk around one of the trails
Warner Bros Studios
Beverly Hills
Malibu and El Matador Beach
Might have a wonder around Hollywood to see the stars briefly but it’s not a priority

Not too keen on staying in Down Town La or Hollywood due to the high crime rates. It would be handy to have a few shops around especially for coffee. Otherwise we will be hiring a car too.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

thanks

There are some hotels In the general vicinity of Universal Studios so for there and Hollywood and Vine I would stay there (you can take the metro to Hollywood itself and it would be easier than parking the car).

Warner bros needs to be booked online in advance, the tours offered are very good.

Check the latest re the trails as this changes almost daily. Again parking can be an issue.
Beverley hills is a sign leading into a residential area. Most of the film stars these days live out at Malibu, Bel Air or Holmby Hills.

We have booked to go next year and are planning to do Universal and Warner Bros so have booked The Garland Hotel in Burbank based on a friend's recommendations. Another one in Burbank that came highly recommended to us was The Tangerine. Burbank/Glendale areas were recommended to us as the nicest areas to stay.
