Help with a special holiday

I really need some help as I am going round in circles...

It is my DH's 50th and our 20th wedding anniversary next year and we want to go on a "nice" holiday to celebrate.

DH wants to go over February half term, so 1 week. He is fussy 😫

He doesn't want to ski, he wants warmth.

Dubai was my first thought but he turned his nose up. He doesn't think he would want to stay there for a week. Any hotel recommendations?

Second was Mauritius as we went there on honeymoon - it doesn't seem so expensive then (compared to Christmas/ New Year) but the flight is so long - we would be there for 6 nights.

We have 2 DC 10&8.

Budget - up to £7.5k, preferably half board.

Any other suggestions?

Thank you so much ❤️

What about somewhere in the Caribbean? Mexico or Dominican Republic?

Doggymummar · 18/10/2024 20:57

A week. It's got to be short haul surely, so you are looking at canaries or north Africa in Feb. Maybe Cape Verde?

If it’s Dubai he’s not keen on, as opposed to that part of the world in general, take a look at Oman. No idea on costs, though!

Thanks - I will look at Oman but I think it's the whole idea of the ME that puts him off.

Caribbean - looks out of budget and jet lag for a week? Mauritius is a long flight but minimal time difference (we have done a week before pre DC).

Never looked at Cape Verde - any recommendations?

I doubt the Canaries will be warm enough then? We often go at Easter time and it is 50/50 then if the weather is nice or not. We want to be able to sit by the pool all day (DC permitting of course!).

Difficulty is that if he wants warmth in February it’s going to have to be long haul!

Verite1 · 19/10/2024 10:41

If you fly Friday night, you should get 7 nights? If somewhere where time difference is not too bad, it’s doable?

Maldives? Weather at Feb half term is wonderful.

Morocco is hot in February, and the hotels are amazing. You get SO much for your money it's insane, and the staff are super friendly. We've been twice and have just booked to go next Feb. Easyjet Holidays are undercutting TUI on price right now.

Sounds interesting- do you have any recommendations on hotels?

I second Oman. A beautiful country and not a bit like Dubai.
