We're really interested in going to Saalbach Hinterglemm next August - for up to two weeks (potentially all 14 days there or some time in surrounding areas or Innsbruck for instance).
We're a family of 4 - DH and 2 DD (5 and 7 next summer). We've previously had wonderful alpine holidays in Morzine, and Saalbach Hinterglemm looks like it has a similar offering with somewhere new to explore.
The thing we're finding is that accommodation is a fair bit pricier. That said, I've started to find some self catering accommodation on the tourism website that looks like it could be OK price wise (if we increase our budget a wee bit) - probs looking circa £1,000 a week with a little leeway - for a 2 bedroom apartment situation. It doesn't have to be lux, but would like it not to feel too sterile and would ideally have 2 actual bedrooms, not 1 + a sofa bed in the living space.
What I really wanted to ask was about locations around Saalbach Hinterglemm. We'd previously discounted some as they looked like they were a bit out of the centre. Has anyone been to the area and stayed in the surrounding areas, like Eibing or Mitteregg etc? Are the buses and ski lifts regular enough that you can casually get into the centres of Saalbach and Hinterglemm fairly quickly every day? For reference I suppose we just want to be able to get to things easily like the swimming pool, going out for dinner some nights, hanging out in the towns and getting up the lifts without it being a slog.
And preferably not having to hire a car.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
