Restaurants in Amsterdam

I'm going to Amsterdam for the first time in December & would like a few recommendations for restaurants, if anyone can help?

We're staying in the centre and would like something typically Dutch! Not too bothered about price but nothing too glamorous because I won't have the right clothes!

The Pantry was our favourite Dutch restaurant, but we also loved Het Karbeel so much that we went back a second time. It does the most amazing cheese fondues, and will be so cosy in the winter!
Although not a restaurant, I highly recommend The Happy Pig Pancake Shop.

Not traditionally dutch but this Italian was lovely.
Reasonably priced and close to the central station.
Its called La Madonna, Nieuwendijk 33, 1012 MA Amsterdam, Netherlands

I blog about Amsterdam as my husband is Dutch and we are there all the time.

This post should give you loads of inspiration. Don't worry about dressing up, Dutch culture is very low key even in the nicest places (when you're arriving on a bike in the rain you're not wearing high heels!)

(Do check out the site more widely if it's your first time, you'll find lots of other helpful tips and recommendations. And good on you for wanting something typically Dutch - I do groan when people ask about great sushi in Amsterdam!)

I agree with @Forgottenmyphone Het Karbeel was a nice experience for fondue.
We also liked an Italian restaurant called Casa di David on Singel. Went twice during our trip.

the Foodhallen is fabulous with lots of street food type stalls to try. Also the apple pie in Winkel 43 is not to be missed, near Anne Frank’s house if you are planning a visit there. winkel43.nl/

Belhamel in Amsterdam is amazing! Beautiful restaurant and amazing food and service. We had the best meal there. ( And it was in Killing Eve)

I went here two weeks ago. Relaxed, pub environment, traditional. Really enjoyed it.

Proeflokaal A. van Wees

Absolutely loved this place, we had the tasting group menu… was one of the best meals I have had.
