Emirates seat allocation

We are flying with Emirates in November. I logged onto our booking last night and lots of the seats are unavailable already!

How likely is it that 2 adults will be seated together at check in?

Also I can see people have purchased the aisle seat and the window seat on a row of 3, in the hope nobody buys the middle seat. This is a gamble but those who have done it, did it pay off?

Not sure whether to buy 2 seats now or wait for check in. Is it likely a Friday night flight to Dubai out of school holidays will sell out?

Thanks

Their call centre staff are incredibly helpful and very patient. I always separate out bookings as I like and extra leg room seat. So I call and ensure that I can get extra legroom and DS and DH can be next to me or across the aisle in regular seats. It might take 30 mins to sort, but they always take it in their stride. Just give them a call!

We fly in December and have already chosen our seats - complimentary.

Emirates are very hard to get hold of these days. Customer service as atrocious as everyone else. I'd be surprised if there are empty seats on your flight. Not sure why you can't just reserve your seats? We may sit at the back but we always sit together, and easy to do on their portal.

Sorry I wasn't very clear in the OP, I was wondering if we would likely be allocated seats together it I waited until check in 48 hour before, or if I definitely needed to purchase seats.

Anyway, I've purchased seats and managed to get upper deck on the return flight so I'm all sorted.
