I want canoeing, and hiking

Not far from the UK, just for me.

I'm debating Copenhagen or Stavanger, but I'm interested if people have other ideas. I could even do something within the UK. I'd like to travel from City airport.

I'd like the food to be good, but I doubt it is in Denmark or Norway, so whatever ...

I'd like to be canoeing or kayaking in the sea, but in a sheltered bit, iyswim.

Any suggestions?

this company looks good?

Loving the Outer Hebrides centre! here

Oooh, those look tempting. The current tempting option is either Geneva->train->another lake near there. But the terrain doesn't look that interesting. Or Stockholm, and explore the archipelago.

Guess I'd better refresh my kayak skills in the interim!

Oh, yes, I'd found the Isle of Man one, but the place sounded ... strange? Oh, I remember, I couldn't see anything of it on Google maps, which just seemed strange to me, so I gave up.

Oh, and the flights were quite expensive.

I am curious about the Isle of Man, though, it appears in one of the Cremaster films ...

If you are planning to head into the Scottish Highlands at all, please be aware that there are many ticks in the area and they do carry Lyme Disease.

Also, midgies

I found that website & now want to take the family Greek Island hopping by kayak , or even the Iceland centre!

but as DH is deparate to do the Highlands & Islands we would probably end up in the Hebrides....

But actually, we always end up camping in France!

Lucky you, having personal time out. Hope you find & have a great time.

Oooh, Iceland. Haven't been there for years.

Good point re ticks and so on - but are they on the Islands, too?

Today I am thinking more about Stockholm, with all the islands.

I think I'll do a couple of hours kayaking tomorrow morning, and try to make it every Sunday from now to my trip, to get into shape and practice. Between that and the rock climbing, I might actually end up with some upper body strength .
