How many pyjamas to pack?

OhBeAFineGuyKissMe · 12/10/2024 17:15

I’m going away for a 7 night holiday and just wondering how many pyjamas/ nightwear do you pack for this?

Some people on here say clean every night - do you really take 7 pairs away with you?

@LibertyCaps why do you think they sell adult nightwear?

Mill3nnial · 13/10/2024 10:01

2-3 unless you can access wash facilities

Funderthighs · 13/10/2024 10:04

One pair, same as at home. (I’m obviously filthy but you wouldn’t know it to look at me!)

Caterina99 · 13/10/2024 10:08

I’m going on holiday to a hot place next week - for a week.

I was planning on taking 2 pairs of pjs. They are just basically a vest/t shirt and shorts so don’t take up a lot of space.

sharing a family room with DH and 2 kids. Answer might be different if it’s a different type of holiday!

I don't know, I've honestly never thought about it.

Any more than I think about bras, I don't do them either.

I do think there is a layer of adult clothing that passes me by!

Honest question,

Do you all really wear things in bed?

And have you always? Is a habit or a comfort thing?

I always put my children in PJs but they discarded them as soon as they were able, I'm from a family of naked sleepers.

I honestly thought that the majority of adults slept naked.

Is that not right?

Worse, I wear knickers as well.

I just don't like sleeping naked, I always put clothes back on when I wrap myself into my duvet and go to sleep.

No way I can go without a bra with a GG cup size. I don't need a bra in bed, tried these build-in support tops ones and had it off before light out, but during the day it's mandatory and I have good fitting ones which are comfortable.

2/3 long tshirts. I don't wear pyjamas in bed .

Thank you!

I always felt a bit left out of womanhood in a minor way because I never really had much in the way of breasts, my mother never did anything to do with puberty with me (I've made sure to speak to my daughter about every bloody thing).

I just sorted myself out.

(She wasn't neglectful BTW, just Catholic and unable).

Ginmonkeyagain · 13/10/2024 10:32

None. I don't wear or own nightwear. Generally sleep naked or in a cami vest and pants if it is colder (I will pack extra vests and pants if I think that will be the case).

On the rare occasions these days I have to share a room with someone who is not Mr Monkey I'll take a pair of thin cotton lounge pants that I'll wear with a vest.

Have you never noticed PJs for sale in shops?!

Zippedydodah · 13/10/2024 10:52

DappledThings · 12/10/2024 18:55

One. Wouldn't cross my mind to take more.

Nor me 🤷🏼‍♀️
I bathe or shower before bed, I sleep blissfully alone and don’t get sweaty. If it’s very hot weather I would change them every two or three days possibly?

No, obviously, because I don't stray into nightwear.

Any more that I wouldn't browse tea-cosies if I never made loose tea in a pot.

I understand it exists. I always just, if I thought about it at all, assumed it was a branch of leisure wear.

As in 'clothing people wear when they want to be relaxed'.

I have gowns that I wear. I always saw it as gowns+

Sidebeforeself · 13/10/2024 11:19

Well I’d bet you are quite unique in your thinking.

Possibly not as unique as you think .

I'm going to do a quick and basic poll with female friends & family.

Will report back.

Ha! How will we know you are telling the truth? This could be your attempts to single handedly ruin the nightwear industry !

dudsville · 13/10/2024 11:39

Completely depends on the temperature and the availability laundry facilities.

Shelby1981 · 13/10/2024 11:57

For me? 1

For my child (8) 3, because he's likely to get breakfast on them etc

Busted!

I'm a plant from the bedding industry.

No clothes in bed? Need to wash your bedding more often.

Need to wash your bedding more often? That's not going to last!

= We all need more bedding.

The nightwear industry & the bedding industry have been at war for years.

Need a new cunning plan.

(Also, forget you ever read this).

For me it depends on the weather and which duvet we have on.

In summer I sleep naked. In winter when we have the winter duvet I often sleep naked.

But right now we still have our wool summer weight duvet on the bed as DH would be much too hot with the winter one.

Right now I need PJs on colder nights until we put the winter duvet on. As a bonus it's warmer when I get up to wee in the night.

Also when we go away in our caravan I the UK, even in the summer it can be cold at night so I usually wear PJs.

Stop. Hammertime.

Do people actually wear clothes in bed?

I honestly thought that was a joke.

I don't, but seriously what did you think PJ's were for (other than going to ADSA?). Did you not wear nightwear as a child?

EDIT to apologise for reviving a dead thread, forgot I was reading one from 'other threads you might like🙇🏻‍♀️

Edited

I last wore nightwear when I was about ten years old, and I haven't owned any since about the same time. Don't share holiday sleeping arrangements with anyone other than DH these days, but when I did, pants and T-shirt were generally more than enough, and quite often not necessary. When DH and I visit friends, we generally take a light cotton dressing gown for midnight excursions.
