Italy for skiing at Christmas! If the link is open, we'll also ski over to Switzerland for the day. Cannot wait to be skiing again, and this will be our first time skiing in Italy or Switzerland.

UmbrellaEllaEllaElla · 12/10/2024 09:41

Yes, to Egypt.

robinsnest1967 · 12/10/2024 09:58

I've just landed in Cyprus this morning!

LBOCS2 · 12/10/2024 10:09

Mallorca later this month for 5 days, and a week in Fuerteventura in November. Very much looking forward to both.

gohomeroger1 · 12/10/2024 19:19

Morroco mid November with my DH for my 40th. First proper holiday without kids since they were born as oldest is in school. Actually just looking forward to not having to always put someone else before me. Just relax

haveyouopenedyourbowelstoday · 12/10/2024 19:30

Tenerife 2nd December. Can't wait!!

halava · 12/10/2024 19:35

15th December until 8th January in Estepona, with a break in Seville, and another in Malaga city on the way home.

Beats being here for the Christmas crap and while the weather is not guaranteed, it is always warmer and the nights are longer and the food is great and and and.....

Retired now, paid my debt to society so am paying myself back while I can still walk and talk at the same time lol!

Roundthemoon · 12/10/2024 19:37

I'm thinking of going to tenerife.

Anyone who's been, can you reccommend a nice area?

Monkeytapper · 12/10/2024 19:39

@Roundthemoon Costa Adeje

I've never been skiing. It seems a bit dangerous. Is it?

Last year we went to Gran Canaria in December it was the best thing we ever did for our mental health, but the kids prefer Xmas at home and tbh we can’t afford it this year as doing a big holiday to the US next year. But I do feel I really could have done with this December break over the big trip. It did wonders for my mental health and well-being, but DH and I are both turning 45 next year. Because of Covid we didn’t get to celebrate our 40ths so the US is like a joint 40th and 45th celebration.

Could you do a long weekend away and get someone to mind the kids for the weekend?

I did pain for four days recently and it was a great break

Am805463 · 12/10/2024 19:43

I’m off to Levi in Lapland in December, can’t wait!

RabbitsRock · 12/10/2024 19:45

You lucky buggers! Nothing for us for the foreseeable although I would like to go somewhere for my 60th which isn’t such a long time away. One of the Greek islands hopefully

IggyAce · 12/10/2024 19:49

New York early November, can’t wait. It’s to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary.

Sunnnybunny72 · 12/10/2024 19:49

Dubrovnik on Monday and Munich in December.

Vicliz24 · 12/10/2024 19:50

I'm 60 next month so the DH and I are off on an American adventure. New Orleans Memphis Nashville Charleston and Savannah . Very excited, we did California for my 50th and loved it . Being away for our 0 Birthdays is mandatory for us . Really helps to take the sting away.

halava · 12/10/2024 19:54

I hope you all have a great time on your hols. Aren't we so very fortunate to be able to do this both financially and physically - health wise.

As my old Dad used to say, " there's no pockets in a shroud" (nowhere to put your money when your dead!).

Retiredearly61 · 12/10/2024 20:01

I agree with the poster above regarding winter sun being good for your mental health. In recent years I’ve managed to get away mid November and mid February to the canaries, basic apartment so nowt fancy but some sun. After years of suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder my winter is now only effectively December and January broken up by Christmas. So much easier to get thru than thinking you have to endure October to the end of March.
Four weeks to my next break and on the look out for next February deal

I agree @halava

Holidays don't have to be weeks away or big ticket trips either, a night or two in a Travelodge seeing a new part of the UK can also be a great break.
