Is Sharm El Sheikh warm enough in early March?

Hi. That question, really. I expect cold nights in Egypt as it is the desert but those of you who have been, is it warm enough to sunbathe and swim in the sea during the day in early March? It is hard to know from the average and maximum historical temperatures. Thank you!

I don’t know about the weather but it will Ramadan in March and it could impact your trip.

It depends how hardy you are. I've scuba dived in the Red Sea at that time of year.

The weather was 'pleasant summers day in the UK' so warm enough to sit around in the sun and the sea was OK for swimming but it wasn't anywhere near bathwater temperatures and you might get a bit cold if you don't keep moving while in the water.

We've been in January and it was nice enough through the day. Earn enough to sunbathe but not overly hot. We didn't go in the sea though

I've been to Hurghada in mid March and it was mostly very warm through the day (we had one day of cloud) and definitely sunbathing weather. We did go snorkelling but the sea was pretty chilly. We didn't find it cold in the evenings but I did sometimes wear a thin cardigan when out for dinner.

Warm enough to sit on loungers in the afternoon.

The sea was fine. We dove during the day - shortie wetsuit mostly.

You'll want jumpers and cardies for evening.

Hotel pools were unheated.

We went in March a few years ago and it was high 20s. We swam in the sea every day. Very warm. However, I don't know if this is the norm or unusually warm for March.

Thank you, I had not clocked that

We went to Sharm in March 2022. Don't know if it was Ramadan then but no impact in our hotel. We went for 10 nights.

Weather was so lovely during the day. In the evening I was very cool and windy.

We're going to Hurgarda next April as the weather was so good.

Hi there, Ramadan will start on the 11th of March this year whereas in 2022 it started at beginning of April. It could very well be that it doesn’t impact your hotel complex but it will definitely have a knock on effect once outside of it. It would be difficult to get a meal or coffee for eg during fasting hours and everyday life is generally turned on its head with everything coming back to life after the fasting hours are over. Is it possible to have a holiday in a Muslim country they during Ramadan? Yes. It is. In fact it could actually add to the enjoyment of a holiday if you are open to new experiences and adventures.

Thank you for the contributions, another vote for the weather. I will make sure I look into the practicalities of, or instance, availability of snorkel tips during fasting hours. The plan would be to stay in an all-inclusive hotel with my son (young adult), enjoy the sea and chill.
