10 days in the Seychelles - what to pack please

We go in about 4 weeks and I want to feel excited but I mainly just feel anxious - probably because I'm leaving my (just) 18 year old for the first time (with plenty of support and visits and his adult sister is half a mile away!) and because I get travel sick so yay! Oh and also because I've had more anxiety since approaching menopause - never used to suffer at all!

What helps me a bit is being very organised! Can you suggest anything that's an absolute must have to pack? Anything for the plane? Well, planes - it's two legs

I sensed I was perhaps losing what was sensible to take as I tucked a tooth repair kit into a bag ...

The Seychelles are so beautiful
I went last year to a copy of ritzy islands, there were quite a lot of French guests who definitely dressed up for dinner; Hermes flats, beautiful tiny straw bags and chic wraps.
Simple plain beachwear with kaftans rather than sarongs, plain straw hats and big sunnies.
I wore shorts but noticed the chicest wore monochrome linen.

@MainsDrain ooh I need to up my dressing game 😀

I like the sound of those outfits though! Did you really enjoy it there?

I went the beginning of March. It was soooooo humid, so please check the humidity levels for the time you are there.

@OhHaiOwlInYourTowel
its breathtaking, particularly the out islands.
Would return in a heartbeat!
Take masks, snorkels and fins for the snorkelling

@FluffBomb I will check! We are going on the 10th November until the 20th so hoping to scrape in before the trade winds! I can hardly believe it'll be hot and humid though - my brain can't compute 😀

It depends where you are staying, which island as they have distinct character. I didn't dress any different to going to a European resort to be honest, except of course the rain gear.

OhHaiOwlInYourTowel · 07/10/2024 21:22

@Doggymummar we are staying on Mahe and will have a car to get around

I'd love to do boat excursions but get horribly sea sick so the jury is out on that one.

Aj the water is so calm you'll be fine. Mahe is the larger island, it's no different really to going on holiday anywhere hot, no special considerations needed, except it's very rainy and wet in the rainforest and rained everyday when I was there, short sharp bursts which are a blessing. Good walking shoes and a hat plenty of Skeeter spray and enjoy.
