The French make bottles up with Evian, often.

Not sure about tap water, sorry.

boiled tap water. bottled water has too high a mineral content I believe. if you're just away for a few days and access to a kettle etc is a pain I'd be tempted to take a load of ready made - those 7oz cartons are ideal

Not mineral water, it has different concentrations of minerals which can be bad for a baby. The tap water should be fine.

I went to Syria when DS was 10mths old and boiled the tap water for his formula and he was fine. So, I'm sure boiling french water will be ok too.

I also took Milton cold water sterilizing tablets with me for the bottles etc - were absolutely fab and so practical so you may want to consider taking those along as well

Tis true about mineral water in general, but apparently Evian is ok - have heard this from several sources, including a French family I worked for, who made up bottles with Evian, and they had a tres PFB.

The French tend to buy bottled (not necessarily Evian - there is a little logo/pic of a baby on those brands that are suitable) but tap water is perfectly safe here.

It might taste a bit different though.

WanderingTrolley · 22/04/2008 21:43

Other bottled waters are available

branflake81 · 24/04/2008 15:50

Yeah, the French never drink tap water. They always buy it. Stupid, a mon avis.

The French make up baby bottles with Evian or I think also Vittel, so in Paris I would do what they do! You could always boil that if you felt the need, but I didn't bother after baby was 6 months.

Where's DLP?

Don't boil mineral water, it makes the minerals more concentrated.

We used Evian and other baby friendly brands as Castille suggested.

Some French people drink tap water.
DH doesn't because I refuse to buy packaged water for daily consumption.
Oh, and students who live on the 5th floor with no lifts don't tend to lug up litres of water either.

Oops, I mean DH does drink tap water.
