Sicily with a baby

We're looking to go to Sicily in October half term for 7-9 days. Does anyone have suggestions for an itinerary that is maximum two different bases? Don't want to move too much with a little one! We're into cultural visits, walks, nature and of course sampling lots of Italian food!

Modica is gorgeous. Everyone was really friendly and welcoming. We had some super meals and what was nice was that there wasn't a 'tourist menu' in sight. It’s famous for chocolate and we found a shop where you can book a short tour (which included a tasting, a chocolate drink, and the traditional cookies), but it must be reserved in advance.

We went to Sicily earlier this year. I can list where we visited but as we went by ship, I cannot really recommend where to stay. I thoroughly enjoyed everywhere and most towns have restaurants and we ate out a few times for lunch.

My top place was Piazza Armerina. Stunning mosaics. Lots of them and way more than anything in the uk. We also went to the Valley of the Temples. Be aware there is no shade but it’s worth doing. We visited Segesta and Erice. Both worth it. Taormina and Syracuse were next and then Noto and Ragusa. We also visited Palermo.

I suggest you have a look at these places first. We really enjoyed Noto - it is stunning but so is nearly everywhere on this list! I’d try and look at places you can stay with access to a few of the above and decide what is a “must see” for you and if you want any down time. If so, where. Good luck planning.

We did Syracuse(Ortigia) then Taormina. Loved both. Taormina maybe not so great with a pushchair though.

Cefalu is flatter.

Noto and Ragusa also very hilly.
