Camping Seeblick Toni in the Austrian Tyrol has an indoor soft play area and had a brilliant new adventure playground built this year which has water play. Camping Oetzlal also has soft play and a massive forest playground.

Does it have to be the Alps or would you consider somewhere else? We stayed in the Cantabrian mountains in an old cowherds cottage. It was wonderful. Beautiful scenery, wildlife and almost nobody goes there aside from cows and the odd cyclist powering up the mountain roads. About an hour from Bilbao or Santander so easy to get to.

Following this!

LIZS · 04/10/2024 18:34

Interlaken or Wengen/Grindelwald?

weaselwords · 04/10/2024 18:36

We’ve just come back from Picos de Europa in Northern Spain, which was bloody lovely.

House4DS · 04/10/2024 22:01

@weaselwords @Aaron95 whereabouts did you both stay? I keep hearing good things about northern Spain.

It's just outside a village called La Gandara. Can highly recommend it if you want to get away from it all for a few days. The only noise you will hear are cowbells.

But flipping expensive, mind. Just back from Adelboden and oh my, it wiped us out. Switzerland is gorgeous but not cheap

Have a look at Slovenia. Just back from Ljubljana and the surrounding countryside was stunning.

We were in a camper van, so just pootled around and stayed at various. Some were nicer than others!

We love Achensee in Austria. Not sure if any of the villages around the lake have glamping but otherwise it would fit the bill for you perfectly.

FaerieQueene · 05/10/2024 15:40

Julian alps in north-west Slovenia - stunning scenery and less expensive than Austria or Italy in general

Can you give me bit more details? Many are mentioning slovenia

Maybe look at Kranjska Gora in Slovenia. It's at the foot of the mountains and is big enough that it had everything you might want/need (supermarket, restaurants, etc) while not being too big.

There's a small campsite on the northern edge of town that has a few glamping tents, but is otherwise fairly basic. There's also a campsite called Camp Spik a few km from Kranjska Gora. It has more facilities, such as a playground, but not sure they have glamping tents.

Lake Bohinj is beautiful and much less developed/touristy than Lake Bled - you can get a cable car up into the mountains, and lots of activities at the lakeside - I really rate it.

Giulemani · 07/10/2024 08:43

And since there is no direct flights to ljubjana, its better to choose trieste or zagreb airport? I think i dont need to combine croatia amd slovenia together, a week in solvenia there plenty to do, especially with my daughter

Will you be hiring a car or taking public transport?

Numsmetty · 07/10/2024 09:00

Have you thought about Ireland? You can fly Ryanair straight into Kerry airport, the highest mountains in Ireland are just around the corner. Killarney national park is stunning and the Ring of Beara is about as far away from it all as you can get! (Check out Dursey island cable car and garnish beach). There are plenty of locally run airbnbs, with beautiful views and seclusion. Just look for superhosts and click on the right search boxes. Our favourite https://www.airbnb.com/slink/E2kFuHXl

Better rent a car..

In that case Trieste is probably easiest, but make sure your car rental firm knows you're going cross border.

Where are you flying from? Assuming nowhere near London if you're needing to change planes - but changing in Brussels or Frankfurt and picking up a car in Ljubljana would probably be simpler.
