Whats Dorset like for ....

A weekend break with my friend away from the children. It's her birthday so we thought we'd have a girly weekend relaxing.

We must sound like a really fuddy old pair (we're not I promise) but the criteria is:

  • Somewhere pretty
  • Some nice walks
  • Tea rooms (gotta have cake)
  • NT houses to visit (like to have a good old nosey and walk around the grounds)
  • Nice shops, not high street stuff though.

Any thoughts or ideas ?

Cerne abbas is very quaint
Lulworth cove, durdle door
have a look for villages near Dorchester or weymouth, lots of lovely walks near there and close to the coast too.

Moonfleet manor used to be nice but I haven't been for years.

Christchurch is quite nice too.

Wimborne has all of those things you mention - Kingston Lacy nearby for the NT house.

Or there's Sherborne or Shaftesbury - not coastal but lots of good walks, and you can go to the fab gardens and house at Stourhead nearby.
