We couldn't afford centre parce so have booked Filey for New Year and now everyone keeps saying everything will be closed and I will hate it. Happy to travel around Scarborough Whitby inland to Pickering ect. Can anyone tell me anything to do in the area that's still open. I know the trains aren't running. Happy for lots of walks and board games but was still hopping to get out for a few hours a day.

It won’t be shut, though Filey town isn’t a metropolis! Scarborough is open, there’s shows on at the Spa, the seafront will be open as normal and there’s plenty to do. There’s a big water park in Scar with a spa if you like that sort of thing - it’s lovely here at that time of year

Just looked at the Spa and can do a pantomime and ABBA NYE thank you so much for that recommendation

Filey is very small but I like it. I don't know what you want in winter but I would recommend you book restaurants well ahead as there aren't many and get booked up.
There are two Italians, San Marco is nice, better imo than Bella Italia ( not the chain one).
There's a tiny animal park.
Long beach walks

Was at Scarborough last Xmas/NYE - they had fireworks viewable from the beach and others at the Grand Hotel.
Tried to get to Filey NYD but couldn't get parking, it was so busy. Lovely coastline, everyone wanted to be there.
Scarborough also has a cute cinema at St Steven Joseph Theatre.
